Dr. Trevor offers comprehensive family dentistry services to patients of all ages. Some of the services his office provides include:

  • Checkups
  • Cleanings
  • Fillings
  • Crowns
  • Bridges
  • Dentures

How Often are Check-Ups and Cleanings Necessary?

Patients of all ages should have a cleaning and checkup once every six months. These visits should begin shortly after a child gets his or her first teeth and continue throughout life.

What Happens During a Checkup and Cleaning?

When you come to Dr. Trevor Cosmetic and Family Dentistry for a cleaning and checkup, a dental hygienist will begin by using special tools to remove plaque and tartar from each of your teeth. The hygienist will also floss your teeth and polish them. They may administer a fluoride treatment at the end of the cleaning to prevent cavities.

After the cleaning is over, Dr. Trevor will perform a comprehensive examination to look for cavities, gum disease, tooth damage, or any other problems you may have.

In addition to the cleaning and the exam, your appointment may involve X-rays of your teeth. The purpose of these scans is to look for any structural or internal problems. If Dr. Trevor discovers any problems during your exam, he’ll inform you and recommend treatment options.

How Does Dr. Trevor Treat Cavities?

If Dr. Trevor discovers a cavity during your exam, you’ll most likely need a filling to repair it. In most cases, he’ll complete the filling at another appointment.

To repair the cavity, Dr. Trevor will begin by using dental tools to remove all of the decay from your tooth. He’ll then place filling material in the hole to strengthen the tooth and protect it from further damage.

How Can Patients Keep Their Teeth Healthy?

Taking good care of your teeth can prevent cavities and other problems. To keep your teeth as healthy as possible, brush and floss twice daily. You should also keep regular cleaning and check-up appointments with Dr. Trevor every six months. If you notice pain or any other worrisome symptoms affecting your teeth, contact our office as soon as possible to schedule an exam and deal with the problem quickly.
