Dentists located in Renton, WA

When a patient is missing teeth, they can experience many different complications, such as deterioration of the bone and gum tissue. If the number of missing teeth is too high to fix with bridges and/or crowns, dentures may be the best option. Dentures replace all of the teeth in an arch with a single, removable device. Dr. Trevor Tsuchikawa of Dr. Trevor Cosmetic and Family Dentistry offers dentures to patients with missing or damaged teeth. To make an appointment, please call our office in Renton, Washington, or book online today.

Dentures Q & A

What are Dentures?

Dentures are a dental device used to replace multiple damaged or missing teeth. This device is removable, allowing you to take it in and out of your mouth as needed.

What Types of Dentures are Available?

Dr. Trevor offers both full and partial dentures. Although full dentures replace all of the teeth along a dental arch, partial dentures replace a few missing teeth in a row. Both partial and full dentures attach to your gum line.

How are Dentures Created?

If you decide to get dentures, Dr. Trevor will begin by removing any damaged teeth the dentures will replace. Next, he’ll take a series of impressions of your gum line that will be sent to the lab. Using these impressions, the lab will create a customized denture that fits your mouth comfortably.

Why Should Patients Choose Dentures?

Dentures aren’t the right choice for every patient, but they do offer several benefits. Some of these benefits include:

  • Clearer speech - When you’re missing teeth, your speech may not sound normal. Dentures can restore clearer speech in these cases.
  • Better chewing abilities - Missing teeth make it difficult for you to bite and chew. Dentures allow you to chew food normally.
  • Improved face structure - If your cheeks appear hollow or sunken because of missing teeth, dentures can solve the problem.
  • A nicer smile - Dentures restore the beauty of your smile, allowing you to feel more confident and self-assured.

Are Other Options Available?

Alternatives to dentures may be available, depending on how many teeth you’re missing and your treatment goals. For example, if you’re only missing a few teeth and they’re next to each other, you may opt for a dental bridge instead. However, you’ll only be able to have a bridge if you have teeth on either side of the gap capable of receiving a crown.

Some patients with missing teeth also opt for dental implants. Dental implants are prosthetic teeth implanted into your jawbones. They’re usually the most expensive option for patients with missing teeth.

Before you begin any type of treatment, Dr. Trevor will take the time to discuss all of your options with you in detail so you can make the best choice.
